Anthropic has strengthened its presence in Asia with the opening of a new office in Seoul, alongside a series of strategic partnerships with leading Korean enterprises, startups, researchers, and government agencies aimed at accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence while advancing AI safety.
The company also announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT to support the safe and responsible deployment of AI across the public sector. The collaboration will focus on AI safety, cybersecurity, Korean-language model evaluation, and information sharing related to AI-enabled cyber threats.
The Seoul office marks a significant milestone in Anthropic’s global expansion strategy and reflects the growing importance of South Korea as a hub for AI innovation.
“What I see in Korea are teams who understand that innovation and safety are two sides of the same coin,” said KiYoung Choi, Representative Director of Korea at Anthropic. “Korean organisations are building with Claude to bring the benefits of AI to millions around the world. Opening an office in Seoul gives a long-term home to our work alongside the people shaping Korean leadership in AI.”
As part of its expanding footprint, Anthropic is deepening collaborations with some of South Korea’s largest technology and industrial groups. Internet and cloud technology leader NAVER has deployed Claude Code across its engineering organisation, enabling thousands of developers to enhance software development productivity and diversify coding workflows. Gaming giant Nexon is leveraging Claude Code to support the development, review, and deployment of software powering live-service games played by millions globally.
Several major conglomerates are also integrating Anthropic’s AI solutions into their operations. LG CNS, the IT services arm of LG Group, is rolling out Claude to thousands of employees and plans to extend deployment across the broader LG ecosystem. Hanwha Solutions is implementing Claude through AWS Bedrock to provide AI capabilities while meeting strict data residency and security requirements. Meanwhile, Samsung SDS is deploying Claude, including Claude Cowork and Claude Code, across Samsung Electronics to support knowledge work, agentic workflows, and software development at scale.
South Korea’s startup ecosystem is also embracing Anthropic’s technology. Channel Corp has integrated Claude into its customer engagement platform, Channel Talk, enabling automated customer support and advanced business analytics for more than 230,000 businesses across South Korea, Japan, and the United States.
Beyond commercial deployments, Anthropic is strengthening ties with the country’s academic and research communities. The company will collaborate with the National AI Research Lab (NAIRL), a consortium comprising KAIST, Korea University, Yonsei University, and POSTECH. Through the initiative, up to 60 researchers will gain access to Claude to support studies in AI safety, model evaluation, alignment, robustness, and frontier AI research.
Anthropic is also extending its impact into the nonprofit sector. Good Neighbours Korea, a child rights-focused NGO, is deploying Claude to help staff analyse programme outcomes, interpret social welfare regulations, and reduce administrative burdens, allowing more time to focus on supporting vulnerable children and communities.
The announcements underscore Anthropic’s broader strategy of combining enterprise adoption, public-sector collaboration, academic research, and responsible AI governance as it expands its global footprint. With South Korea emerging as a key market for advanced AI applications, the company’s latest initiatives position it to play a significant role in the country's rapidly evolving AI ecosystem.
