Thales has launched HexaForce, an AI-enhanced multi-domain command and control (C2) system designed to help armed forces process large volumes of operational data and accelerate decision-making across land, air, sea, cyber, space, electromagnetic spectrum and information operations.
The system integrates Thales’ cortAIx AI capabilities, including large language models (LLMs) and agentic AI, with a distributed command-and-control architecture. The company said HexaForce is designed to support national sovereignty while enabling interoperability between national armed forces and coalition partners.
AI capabilities within HexaForce are intended to shorten mission planning cycles, enhance operational situational awareness, consolidate tactical and operational information, accelerate decision-making and optimise the allocation of military effectors.
The platform also uses AI to automate the analysis, correlation and prioritisation of large data streams from military, open-source and civilian sources. Thales said live trials are underway to increase the system’s processing capacity from 100 to 1,000 targets per day.
HexaForce draws on the capabilities of cortAIx, Thales’ dedicated AI accelerator involving around 800 engineers and data scientists working with the company’s defence specialists.
The system applies LLMs and agentic AI across different phases of military missions. Potential applications include generating a richer operational picture, real-time consolidation and sharing of situational information, faster decision-making, effector allocation and field maintenance and support.
According to Thales, HexaForce builds on operational feedback from Artemis.IA, a data-centric platform deployed with the French Ministry of Armed Forces since 2023. Artemis.IA has been used for multi-source data processing and AI scaling.
HexaForce uses a distributed data network designed to remain resilient under degraded communications conditions. Thales said the platform can connect strategic commanders with tactical units while orchestrating assets across armed forces and coalition partners.
The system is based on an open and interoperable architecture using open-source standards. It supports Data-Centric Security (DCS) and Federated Mission Networking (FMN) standards, allowing nations to integrate technology from selected partners while retaining control over their data feeds.
The architecture has also been tested during the NATO CWIX 2026 exercise, according to Thales.
Thales said HexaForce has been developed through short feedback cycles with frontline forces, allowing operational requirements to be incorporated throughout the software development process.
The company positions the platform as a next-generation C2 system that combines AI-driven data processing with multi-domain interoperability and sovereign control of military information.
