Bespoke Partners, the leading executive search firm for private equity portfolio companies, released its 1H2026 Software & SaaS Talent Market Update, examining how AI disruption is reshaping leadership needs across private equity-backed software and SaaS companies.
The report finds that AI is no longer a product or technology issue alone. It has become a value creation mandate touching every major executive function, from CEOs and CFOs to Go-to-Market, Product, Technology, Human Resources and operations leaders.
As software companies confront faster product cycles, shifting operating models, and rising execution pressure, sponsors are reassessing whether leadership teams have the transformation capability required to compete.
“AI is forcing a reckoning in software leadership,” said Adam Boone, Chief Commercial Officer of Bespoke Partners. “The winners will be companies with leaders who can turn disruption into measurable execution by driving transformation with AI.”
The report highlights a tightening talent market for AI-adept executives, with proven operators remaining scarce, compensation still elevated for high-impact roles, and leadership teams becoming more specialized earlier in the company lifecycle.
Bespoke recently released a guide for sponsors on evaluating CEO AI aptitude and a second guide on assessing AI readiness across all functional leaders.
