The National Defence Academy (NDA) Pune is set to integrate emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology and drone training into its curriculum as part of its alignment with the National Education Policy 2020.
Vice Admiral Anil Jaggi, Commandant of NDA, said the academy is preparing a revised curriculum in line with NEP 2020, aimed at equipping cadets with skills relevant to modern warfare.
“NDA is matching its curriculum with the NEP. Artificial intelligence, quantum technology and drone training are increasingly important, and we have included these subjects to ensure cadets are future-ready,” Jaggi said.
He added that technologies such as AI and quantum systems are becoming critical components of next-generation defence strategies, making it essential for cadets to gain foundational knowledge in these areas.
The move reflects a broader shift in military training, where digital capabilities, autonomous systems and advanced computing are playing a growing role in operational effectiveness. By embedding these subjects into its academic framework, NDA aims to prepare future officers for technology-driven battlefields.
The updated curriculum is expected to be introduced in the near future, marking a significant step in modernising defence education in India.
